UKGE trip to Berlin Brettspiel Con

Last weekend, one of our UK Games Expo directors, Richard, visited Berlin Brettspiel Con to experience one of Europe's leading board game conventions.

As Germany's second largest board game convention after Essen, Berlin Brettspiel Con has grown enormously since its beginnings in a school back in 2015. Now held at the impressive Estrel Hotel in Berlin, the event welcomes around 18,000 attendances across the weekend and features around 100 exhibitors, a huge open gaming area, an extensive games library and a bustling flea market.

With the event taking place just a few months before Essen Spiel, many publishers were showcasing upcoming releases, making it a fantastic opportunity to discover exciting new games and meet publishers from across the tabletop industry. Richard and Jane even took part in several game demonstrations in German, proving that the language of board gaming really is universal.

Richard described the weekend as fun, friendly and incredibly welcoming, with plenty of inspiration to bring back to the UK Games Expo team.

It's always fantastic to visit other events, support the wider tabletop community and see how conventions continue to grow across Europe.
