Beyond Cards: Mastering the TCG Mental Game

This lecture is ideal for competitive TCG players of all levels, from aspiring to experienced, who are looking to gain a competitive edge. Dr. Miles Cassidy-Rice is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with experience working with elite athletes and a competitive TCG player himself (Star Wars Unlimited). This has sparked research interests in exploring the mental skills necessary to be successful in competitive trading card games. Miles will be joined by Dr. Britni Cassidy-Rice who has experience of researching curriculum and instruction and has a recent interest focusing primarily on Disney Lorcana. In this lecture, Miles and Britni will explore some of the findings and provide practical advice to attendees on how to improve the psychological aspect of their TCG performance in competitions.

By the end of the lecture, attendees will have a deeper understanding of the psychological factors that influence TCG performance and learn practical skills that will improve their mental game in competitions. This lecture will explore evidence-based techniques to improve mental performance in competitive gameplay. This will include practical tools such as how to develop a winning mindset, managing performance anxiety and staying calm under pressure, and how to create effective pre-tournament routines. Attendees will leave the lecture with a deeper understanding of the psychological factors that influence TCG success and practical tools to enhance mental performance.
